Stefan Sagmeister

One of the most remarkable design icons with a style that will get under your skin and won’t get out of your mind. Sagmeister works with happiness and knows how to look at things differently. The acclaimed graphic designer has done work for the Rolling Stones, The Talking Heads, Lou Reed, Adobe, Levis, BMW and The Guggenheim Museum.

Stefan Sagmeister is a designer provocateur who is not afraid to extend the boundaries of design. His work is unique, memorable, provocative and breathtaking. It ignores the objectivity and enhance intimacy. Stefan Sagmeister knows that design is more than just a means of selling. Stefan creates eye-catching visual mastery and amazes his audience.

Sagmeister practically received every important international award of design for his work. Every seven years, he declares yearlong sabbatical in his New York studio Sagmeister & Walsh. He argues that big changes need time.

He wrote several inspirational books and his talks are watched all over the world as well as his webcam-watched NYC based design studio. Irene Pereyra & Anton Repponen

Irene Pereyra and Anton Repponen belong among the best world designers. Both of them work at the one of the most famous global agencies in UX, visual and responsive design – Fantasy Interactive, which became famous also thanks to their sophisticated and elaborate case studies.

As Global User Experience Director, Irene Pereyra is responsible for translating business requirements into intuitive interactive solutions. She has led the strategy and UX initiatives for world-renowned clients such as Wacom, USA Today, Google, BBC or Red Bull for both the web and cross-platform applications. Her projects have been displayed all over the world.

A recipient of the prestigious Red Dot “Best of the Best” award, Anton Repponen is a highly influential designer in the digital creative industry. As Global Creative Director, he was responsible for delivering creative solutions for clients such as Sony, Porsche, Microsoft, HTC, FOX, Wacom or Nintendo. Anton is frequent and acclaimed guest speaker at various industry conferences.

At By Design Conference there will Irene and Anton walk-through an in-depth ‘behind the scenes’ of the redesign of Wacom.com and the challenges in other large redesigns in a chronological manner: from how the projects started, to the successes and hurdles faced along the way, and ultimately to launch. This will be an opportunity to learn about the ideas that worked and the others that failed miserably. It is the ‘behind the scenes’ story of the real-life challenges faced by Anton and Irene, told in a refreshingly candid manner.

Method

Creative director and founding member of Method's London design team Philip O’Dwyer will introduce their internationally experienced design organization. Method is a well-known global studio recognized for its digital design projects. They brought the idea that brand is no longer defined by what it says, but what it does.

Philip has 15 years of experience in all aspects of digital product design and branding. His extensive digital product design experience spans consumer electronics, product and service design innovation, and the design of complex online services. He has worked for world-known companies such as BBC, Skype, Intel or Nokia. His work has been presented in numerous publications and exhibitions. Philip is regularly invited to speak at events in Europe and in East Asia on issues related to digital design.

The Swedish Rock’n’Roll agency that can’t be overlooked. Either for their festival on inspiration, a book which made it to the Amazon Top 5 bestsellers or numerous outstanding campaigns. Wherever they go in the world, they always make herds of fans and enemies. Bratislava certainly won’t be an exception.

SNASK is the perfect example of a new breed in the design world. These guys are young, talented, creative, successful, bold and self-confident. They challenge the design industry by doing things differently. And that is inspiring, attractive and people like it. Above all their virtues, they are a bunch of hard working individuals with a clear vision of how design can help a brand. Their fame was also built via blogs and by delivering entertaining keynotes at numerous international conferences.

Erwin Bauer

Leading Austrian designer focusing on visual and spatial communication design, recognized for his publications, self-initiated projects and longtime research. His publications, interviews, lectures, written contributions and critiques of important issues are all part of his active and lively participation in the design discourse. After numerous talks and workshops in Vienna, Stuttgart or Zurich, Erwin comes to Bratislava to share his award-winning experience.

His interdisciplinary studio buero bauer has worked for cultural institutions as well as for commercial clients and their numerous projects has been presented internationally, with prizes such as the European Design Award, Joseph Binder Award and the red dot award. They have the courage to experiment. This does not mean that their works are loud, flashy and eccentric. On the contrary, their design is calm and reflective

Aleš Najbrt

Aleš Najbrt is the king of posters. He belongs among the most important Czech graphic designers. Studio Najbrt created the design of the famous international film festival in Karlovy Vary, Czech Railways or redesign of the logo of Czech Television. His works stand out thanks to his sophisticated minimalism. He says that the way to simplicity is very long.

The man who gave Poland and Estonia one of the most beautiful newspapers in Europe. A progressive designer and a TED speaker Utko comes to talk about his award-winning redesign which saved Polish newspaper from a collapse and to remind us that to be good is not enough.

Nanushka (Sandra Sandor) is the best-known Hungarian fashion designer. Her Budapest store’s unique design received praise from over 250 design blogs around the world and it has become a must-see tourist destination. Nanushka creates the collections with harmonic combination of playfulness, elegance and comfort – always inspired by tales and mystical stories.

Štefan Klein

Štefan is a leading designer and engineer. He founded the transportation design department at AFAD in Bratislava. His students worked for the world-known car companies such as Audi, Ford and BMW. Štefan has incredible ability to mix design and innovation with commercial acumen and he created world-known project of the Aeromobil.
